The NJ Devils Snap Back in 3rd-Period Against the NY Islanders, 11/28/23

 






  It was a hockey night in Jersey!


   In third period, the Devils made a great comeback! They scored 3 goals, including the game-winning goal, against the New York Islanders on Tuesday, November 28th in Jersey.


 Here's the Devils lineup against the Islanders:

   Bo Horvat scores in first period, putting the Islanders in the lead. Michael McLeod ties it up 1-1, being the final score for first period.

   Dawson Mercer scores in second period, putting the Devils in the lead.. only minutes later, Mathew Barzal scores making it 2-2. Both Cal Clutterbuck and Jean-Gabriel Pageau scoring, the final score of second period being 4-2.

    The Devils snap back in third period! Jack Hughes being the first of the 3 goals making the score 4-3, Nico Hischier ties it up 4-4. With only 21.5 left in third, Curtis Lazar scores the game-winning goal!



"That's a big time win, especially against a team that's ahead of us in the division," Jack Hughes said. "For us to come back and get that in regulation, we're going to take the points anyway we could, but that's a pretty gutsy win out of us."

 

 

- Nico Hischier has two goals in two games now since missing 11 due to an upper-body injury. 

- Jack Hughes stats:

   - 7 Goals

   - 19 Assists

   - 26 Points

- Devils played without Dougie Hamilton in third period due to an upper-body injury.



"What a fun game, back and forth," Curtis Lazar said. "We found a way to win. It was a grind, it wasn't pretty."
