Two Wins Tucked Away: Mercer Powers Devils to Victory Ahead of Home Opener

  Photo: Andrew MacLean The New Jersey Devils survived a chaotic, late-game flurry in Columbus to secure their second straight victory on Monday night, defeating the Blue Jackets 3-2 to cap off their opening road trip. The star of the dramatic finish was forward Dawson Mercer, who netted a pair of goals—including the decisive empty-net marker—that momentarily gave the Devils a two-goal cushion before the Blue Jackets scored with 20 seconds left to keep the tension high until the final horn. Having collected four points out of a possible six on the road, New Jersey now turns its focus to the familiar roar of the Prudential Center crowd. The team finally heads home to Newark, where they will open their home slate on Thursday night with a pivotal early-season clash against the formidable Florida Panthers. Devils 4-3 Win Against Columbus! 12/27/23

 






   The Devils played in Jersey against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday, December 27th. Tie after tie, the Devils won with a 4-3 score. A great game after Christmas break!

   Jake Bean starts off the game, Ondrej Palat scores and ties the game not long after Jake Bean's goal! The final score of first period being 1-1.


   Justin Danforth breaks the tie! That being the only goal in second period, final score being 2-1.


   Dawson Mercer ties the game close to the end of third! Yegor Chinakhov breaks the tie.. LUUUUKKKKKKEEEEEE HUGHES SCORES AND TIES THE GAME 3-3! The Devils and Columbus head into overtime.


   Timo Meier wins it at 2:50 in overtime!



"It's a really important two points. We didn't play our best game, but we found a way to win, and that's the most important thing." Timo Meier said.
