Devils VS Oilers, 6-3. 12/21/23

 






   The Devils played against the Oilers on Thursday, December 21st. Unfortunately, the Devils lost by a 6-3 score. This game now being the 3rd in a row they've lost. Starting with the Anaheim Ducks on December 17th, 5-1 - then the Philadelphia Flyers on December 19th, 3-2.

   Ryan McLeod strikes first for Edmonton, not too long later.. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scores, keeping the Oilers in the lead. Dawson Mercer or should I say, Mercdawg, scores, finally getting the Devils on the board! The final score for first period being 2-1.


   Jonas Siegenthaler ties it up in second! Timo Meier scores near the end of second, putting the Devils in the lead. The final score for third being 3-2.


   A LOT GOES ON IN JUST A MINUTE AND 9 SECONDS?! Connor McDavid scores, tying up the game and not for long because Leon Draisaitl scores getting the Oilers BACK in the lead.. then Adam Erne scores, the score now 5-3. Ryan McLeod scores his second of the night, the final score being 6-3.



"It's mindset," Nico Hischier said. "We got to start having a different mindset."



- Dawson Mercer scored his 7th goal of the season!

- Timo Meier stats:

   - 5 Goals

   - 6 Assists

   - 11 Points

- Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Adam Erne scored in a span of just 69 seconds - now tied for the second-fastest three goals by a team this season! They are behind the Red Wings (49 seconds)

- Tonight is the 100th time where both Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl scored in the same game



"Confidence is key offensively and I think defensively we're doing a lot of good things." Connor McDavid said post-game.
