Two Wins Tucked Away: Mercer Powers Devils to Victory Ahead of Home Opener

  Photo: Andrew MacLean The New Jersey Devils survived a chaotic, late-game flurry in Columbus to secure their second straight victory on Monday night, defeating the Blue Jackets 3-2 to cap off their opening road trip. The star of the dramatic finish was forward Dawson Mercer, who netted a pair of goals—including the decisive empty-net marker—that momentarily gave the Devils a two-goal cushion before the Blue Jackets scored with 20 seconds left to keep the tension high until the final horn. Having collected four points out of a possible six on the road, New Jersey now turns its focus to the familiar roar of the Prudential Center crowd. The team finally heads home to Newark, where they will open their home slate on Thursday night with a pivotal early-season clash against the formidable Florida Panthers. Tristan Jarry Scores a Goalie-Goal Playing Against the Lightning! 11/30/23

   The Penguins won with a 4-2 score, one of those goals scored by Tristan Jarry, in Tampa on Thursday, November 30th.

   Steven Stamkos scores in first, putting the Lightning in the lead 1-0. Tanner Jeannot scores, the final score of first period being 2-0.


   Sidney Crosby (O Captain! My Captain!) scores the first goal for the Penguins in second, 2-1. Drew O'Connor scores, tying the game 2-2, being the final score of second period.


   Jeff Carter scores in third, putting the Penguins in the lead with a 3-2 score. In about a minute left in third period, Tristan Jarry scores an empty net!



"I think it was the perfect scenario," Tristan Jarry said. "They dumped it and I didn't even have to stop it. I just shot it right in and it ended up going in."
