Blackhawks OT win against the Islanders 1/19/24

After being tied late in the third period, the New York Islanders and the Chicago Blackhawks went into overtime. Seth Jones scored his first goal of the season, winning it for the Blackhawks. The Islanders ended their road trip with a 0-3-1 record - they play the Dallas Stars in New York on Sunday, January 21st.
It was a great win for the Blackhawks - this was their 14th win of the season. Hopefully, the Hawks can continue getting more wins. Their next game is against the Vancouver Canucks on Monday, January 22nd.

The Islanders had a one-goal lead in the first and going into the second period. Brock Nelson scored, putting the Islanders in the lead and getting his 20th of the season, reaching the eighth time in his career that he got to the 20-goal mark, already being one of the 10-highest goal scorers in New York Islanders history.
Boris Katchouk tied up the game in the middle frame with his fifth goal of the season. With 45.7 seconds remaining in the second period, Joey Anderson gets the Blackhawks in the lead by one. It was a scoreless middle frame for New York.
Jason Dickinson puts the Blackhawks in a two-goal lead, scoring his 16th goal of the season. Bo Horvat strikes his 18th soon after Dickinson's goal, with 13:22 remaining in the final frame. Kyle Palmieri ties up the game and they head into overtime.
At 4:38 in overtime, Seth Jones strikes his first goal of the season and wins it for Chicago. This 4-3 win is the 14th win of the season for the Blackhawks.
Notes:
- The Chicago Blackhawks will head into a 4-game road trip and play against the Vancouver Canucks, Seattle Kraken, Edmonton Oilers, and the Calgary Flames.
- Kyle MacLean made his NHL debut on January 19th

Seth Jones on the Blackhawks 4-3 overtime win against the Islanders: "It's a great feeling, the team played unbelievable tonight. We obviously gave up the two-goal lead in the third but the way we stuck in there - It's just a good team win before we go on this road trip."
"Definitely want to get a win out of it. It's unfortunate we couldn't get that second point there but it was a special night overall, I was very fortunate for the opportunity." Rookie Kyle MacLean spoke to the media after the Islander's OT loss against Chicago - he spoke about the loss and his NHL debut.
