Woll’s Shutout Leads Leafs Past Devils in Toronto

  Photo: Andrew MacLean On Tuesday in Toronto, the Maple Leafs hosted the Devils, handing New Jersey their fourth straight loss when the Leafs and Joseph Woll shutout the Devils 4-0. Woll put on an incredible performance, making a total of 33 saves for Toronto. Bobby McMann, Nicolas Roy, Calle Jarnkrok, and Matthew Knies each found the back of the net for the Leafs, while Jacob Markstrom made 26 saves in a difficult losing effort. It was a good win for the Leafs after they lost to the Detroit Red Wings in overtime on Sunday. The Devils head to Columbus on Wednesday to take on the Blue Jackets in hopes of snapping this four-game skid.    The Kings played in Washington on Sunday, January 7th. It was a close win for the Kings, but the Capitals won with a 4-3 score. The Kings have been on a losing streak - five games now where they have lost.

   Nic Dowd starts off the game, with the Capitals in the lead. Dowd has scored in back-to-back games, recording four points in the last five. Adrian Kempe ties up the game with 12:48 remaining. Kevin Fiala gets the Kings in the lead, this being his ninth goal of the season. Dylan Strome ties it up - 2-2 being the final score of the second.


   Kevin Fiala strikes back early in the third, this being his tenth of the season! Nicolas Aube-Kubel scores his fourth of the season and ties the game back up. John Carlson scores - the final score being 4-3.
