Two Wins Tucked Away: Mercer Powers Devils to Victory Ahead of Home Opener

  Photo: Andrew MacLean The New Jersey Devils survived a chaotic, late-game flurry in Columbus to secure their second straight victory on Monday night, defeating the Blue Jackets 3-2 to cap off their opening road trip. The star of the dramatic finish was forward Dawson Mercer, who netted a pair of goals—including the decisive empty-net marker—that momentarily gave the Devils a two-goal cushion before the Blue Jackets scored with 20 seconds left to keep the tension high until the final horn. Having collected four points out of a possible six on the road, New Jersey now turns its focus to the familiar roar of the Prudential Center crowd. The team finally heads home to Newark, where they will open their home slate on Thursday night with a pivotal early-season clash against the formidable Florida Panthers. Dallas Stars Beat The Wild With A 4-0 Score & Matt Murray Gets 1st NHL Shutout - 1/8/24

   The Stars played in Minnesota on Monday, January 8th. Dallas got a great 4-0 win and Matt Murray got his 1st NHL shutout!

   First period there was only one goal, Roope Hintz! He scored his sixteenth of the season, 10:44 remaining in the first. The final of the first was 1-0.


   The second period was completely scoreless - 1-0.


   Tyler Seguin scores early in the third, this being his fifteenth of the season! Radek Faksa nets one with 11:38 remaining - scoring his third goal. Jason Robertson, or should I say Robo, scores the fourth for the Stars! Robertson scored his fourteenth goal of the season. Final score, 4-0.



- Matt Murray got his 1st NHL Shutout and hopefully will get many more!
