Lightning Wins In OT, 4-3, Against The Devils 1/11/24

 






   The Devils played against the Lightning in Tampa Bay on Thursday, January 11th. The Devils got a great lead in the first period until it was tie after tie, to overtime, and the Lightning won with a 4-3 score.

   Dawson Mercer strikes first for the Devils, getting them in the lead by one. Luke Glendening ties up the game only a few minutes after Mercer's goal. Glendening nets another with 1:38 remaining in the first frame - 2-1 was the final score of the first period.


   Brayden Point scores the third for Tampa, this being his 20th of the season. Jesper Bratt scores one late in the second frame - 3-2 was the final score of the second period.


   Nathan Bastian ties up the game a few minutes into the third period! Michael McLeod scores - the goal was challenged by the Lightning, it ended up being offsides and no goal. The Devils and Lightning now head into overtime.


   Darren Raddysh wins it for the Lightning in overtime, 4-3.



"I think we played a pretty solid game all the way through. All four lines really began to work - it sucks to not get those two points." Jesper Bratt said postgame, talking about the Devils loss against the Lightning.

- Erik Cernak suffered an upper-body injury, not returning for the remainder of the game



"I thought we grinded tonight. We weren't great, but we stuck with it and got two points in the end." Luke Glendening said, talking about the Lightning overtime win.
