   The Avalanche defeated the Capitals in Colorado on Wednesday, January 24th. Nathan MacKinnon scored four goals, got a hat trick, and an assist to help the Avalanche beat the Washington Capitals 6-2.

   Starting off for the Avalanche, Cale Makar gave Colorado the 1-0 lead with a short-handed goal, late in the first period with 37 seconds remaining. Picking up the puck in the neutral zone and skating into the high slot, he got one past Charlie Lindgren.


   Early in the middle frame and on the power play, Nathan MacKinnon nets one and gets the 2-0 lead for the Avalanche. MacKinnon scored with a one-timer from the bottom of the left circle, a cross-ice pass from Mikko Rantanen. MacKinnon back at it with a one-timer, coming from the left circle on a power play and making it a 3-0 game. Only a few minutes after his second of the night, MacKinnon scores a hat trick! He had taken a pass from Rantanen on a 2-and-1, cut across the crease, and shot it past Lindgren.


   Dylan Strome cut the lead, making it a 4-1 game... Mikko Rantanen answers back, batting the puck in after Drouin's centering pass had hit him and popped into the air. Rantanen's goal was his 27th of the season. Nathan MacKinnon back at it! He scores his fourth of the night from the high slot during the 4-on-4. Strome strikes his second of the night during the 4-on-4 and makes it a 6-2 game.
