Tampa Bay Lightning 5-game win streak comes to an end against the Detroit Red Wings, 1/21/24

 






   The Tampa Bay Lightning played against the Detroit Red Wings at the Little Caesars Arena on Sunday, January 21st. This was a good win for Detroit after their 4-2 loss on Friday against the Carolina Hurricanes, ending their 3-game win streak. However, it was an unfortunate loss for the Lightning as it ended their 5-game win streak.

   Tampa Bay opens the scoring - A great feed by Nikita Kucherov and Victor Hedman finishes it. Hedman recorded his ninth goal of the season... Kucherov got his 48 assist of the season and Brayden Point got his 27 assist of the season. Lucas Raymond gets Detroit on the board, tying up the game 1-1 with his 13th goal of the season.


   Daniel Sprong gave the Red Wings a 2-1 lead in the middle frame after the puck was left loose by Anthony Cirelli who was trying to get it to Emil Lilleberg... Sprong grabbed it up and skated towards the net, shooting the puck in the crease.


   The third period was completely scoreless. The Red Wings held their one-goal lead through the rest of the game.

- Tampa Bay's 5-game streak comes to an end

- Alex Lyon saved 28 out of 29 shots

- The Lightning will close out their road trip on Tuesday in Philadelphia against the Flyers



"It's a long season, there's going to be some ups and downs. Right now we're playing some really good hockey and we got to keep rolling like this." Daniel Sprong met with the media after the Red Wings' 2-1 win, talking about how Detroit has been playing lately.
