David Kampf grabbed the puck at the bottom of the right circle before he cut through the crease to stuff it in for a two-nothing lead. Extending the lead to 3-0 at 5:40, John Tavares struck a wrister short side at the right circle for his 17th goal of the season. With 3:49 remaining in the first frame, Max Domi ended his five-game goal drought when he got his own rebound in past Logan Thompson to finish the first period with a 4-0 score.

Only 51 seconds into the second period, William Karlsson got Vegas on the board with a wrist shot from the high slot. Max Domi scored his second of the game and seventh of the season to make it 5-1, going coast to coast. He gathered the puck at the blue line after a miscommunication between Brayden McNabb and Chandler Stephenson, then on to finish a breakaway. Just 26 seconds after Marchessault's goal, Michael Amadio cut it to 6-3 after he took a seam pass from Ivan Barbashev in the right circle, scoring a snap shot and beating Martin Jones.
