*Sorry for the lack of photos! Hoping to get permission eventually.*

Logan Stankoven scored his first NHL goal on his 21st birthday. However, the Stars unfortunately lost 3-2 in overtime against the New York Islanders on Monday, February 26th at the American Airlines Center. Bo Horvat won it in overtime for the Islanders with his 23rd goal of the season... ending their two-game losing streak. The Dallas Stars had a good 2-1 victory before this game when they defeated the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.

Giving the Islanders a 1-0 lead late in the first period at 4:01 - Ryan Pulock scored his fourth goal of the season. Pulock shot from the high slot, sending the puck past the blocker of Scott Wedgewood.

At 12:49 of the second period, Matt Duchene tied the game at 1-1. He grabbed a rebound on the power play at the bottom of the right face-off circle... with this goal, Duchene recorded his 800th NHL career point in 1,034 games (339 goals, 461 assists). He became the second player from the  2009 draft to reach this milestone, as well as John Tavares (1,018 points in 1,084 games). Kyle MacLean got the Islanders' lead back, 2-1, later into the middle frame at 4:36, getting the puck past Scott Wedgewood after Pierre Engvall had found his own rebound to push it back into the slot. Logan Stankoven struck his first NHL goal with 1:43 remaining in the second frame and tied the game at 2-2. Stankoven shot from the bottom of the left face-off circle, the shot going through traffic off a pass from Wyatt Johnston.

The Islanders and Stars had a scoreless third period, so they went into overtime to finish it up for a 3-2 final.

Off a pass from Mat Barzal, Bo Horvat scored a one-timer from the slot at 2:06. The New York Islanders made sure to keep that losing streak at two.

Logan Stankoven on his first NHL goal and how he envisioned this night: "Just kind of a broken play. Obviously, 'Johnny' made a great play through the neutral zone there, kind of challenge the defensemen, and I thought I'd follow up on the play and the goalie was pretty screened. So, just throw pucks on net, and good things happen," - "It's pretty good advice. 'Robo' is in a whole different category with that stuff, but it's nice to get that first goal. It would've been nicer to cap it off with a win - It was unreal... It was super cool and I'm really thankful. The crowd was great and the fans treated me really well."

Notes:

- Wyatt Johnston has the most points by a Dallas Stars player at the age of 20 or younger through their first 60 games of a season in Stars history (19-22--41)... Mike Modano is the last player in Stars/North Stars history to record as many points through 60 in a season in 1990-91 (17-26--43).

- Bo Horvat became the third player in New York Islanders history with multiple overtime goals in a single season against one team... He joins both Jason Blake (2 vs. Buffalo Sabres) and Brock Nelson (2 vs. Pittsburgh Penguins, 2019-20).

- Ryan Pulock had a goal and an assist

- Ilya Sorokin made 30 saves for New York and Scott Wedgewood made 25 saves for Dallas.
