Only 22 seconds into the game, Jonathan Marchessault scored his 27th goal of the season to give the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead. Marchessault's centering pass deflected off Brock Faber's stick and went over Filip Gustavsson. Matt Zuccarello tied up the game 1-1 on the 5-on-3 power play, scoring with a one-timer off a return pass by Kirill Kaprizov. Not long after Zuccarello's goal, Joel Eriksson Ek pushed it 2-1 to get the Wild in the lead right as the power play had expired. Eriksson Ek tapped in Matt Boldy's centering pass after a shot by Kaprizov caromed back off the end boards. Tying the game back up 2-2, Michael Amadio scored on the power play with his seventh of the season... he scored five-hole with a slap shot. In the second period, it remained a 2-2 tie throughout the whole frame.
Marco Rossi answered for Minnesota to make it 3-2 at 13:32 of the third period. Rossi shoved it in after the puck had dropped down at Adin Hill's pads, who thought he controlled the rebound of Boldy's shot. Just 61 seconds later, Matt Boldy extended the lead to 4-2. Boldy knocked the puck away from Hill after Ryan Hartman dumped it... Boldy picked up the puck along the goal line, banking a shot in the net off Hill's shoulder. Mark Stone cut the lead 4-3 with a slap shot from the right circle at the top... Joel Eriksson Ek carried the puck and dropped it off in the empty net with only 22 seconds remaining to wrap it up for that 5-3.

Alex Pietrangelo on the Golden Knights' 5-3 loss against the Wild, what he will remember from his 1,000th game, and his thoughts on how the team played: "That we lost. I like winning. That's the frustrating part. But personally, having my family on the ice is a pretty special thing," - "We could have won the game if we'd scored on the power play. I wasn't good enough, I only had one but I just didn't think we were good enough. I didn't think our execution was good enough, up and down the lineup. So you want to win those games, especially when you have a big break here. It's frustrating."
