Point Earned, Streak Secured: Devils Outlast Penguins 2-1 in SO Thriller

Photo: Andrew MacLean This thrilling Metropolitan Division clash was a goaltending masterclass from both ends of the ice. The New Jersey Devils ultimately prevailed in the shootout, defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 to secure their second consecutive victory and extend their perfect season-opening home winning streak to seven games. The Devils' win was anchored by netminder Jake Allen, who stopped a stunning 33 of 34 shots through regulation and overtime. Across the ice, the resilient Penguins earned a crucial point, thanks to rookie Arturs Silovs—who turned away 23 of 24 shots while holding the Devils' potent offense in check, an impressive feat for an injury-riddled squad missing six key players. Tampa Bay Lightning Photo Gallery: Game 4

Despite being eliminated in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in a 6-1 loss against the Florida Panthers on Monday, April 29th, the Lightning definitely had a good run this season. They had a total of 45 victories during the regular season and had two five-game win streaks from January to March. However, they didn't do as amazing as they had in the regular season in the playoffs. Tampa Bay won one game through the series, in Game 4 with a 6-3 final.

The Lighting won a total of three Stanley Cup championships: 2004, 2020, and 2021 seasons. They got into the 2023-24 season playoffs with a wild card, and this was the first time they made it into the playoffs without finishing in the top three of their division since 1995-96.

So, since their season was unfortunately put to an end, here is a photo gallery of their Game 4 victory in round one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Good luck to the Florida Panthers, and hoping for the Lightning to have a better run in the playoffs next season!
