After breaking their three-game losing streak when they defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 in overtime on Saturday, October 26th, the Bruins took on the Philadelphia Flyers at TD Garden on Tuesday, getting shutout 2-0 by the Flyers. It was an unfortunate loss for Boston, especially after they had just put an end to their losing streak. Joonas Korpisalo made a total of 17 saves for the Bruins. Both Tyson Foerster and Joel Farabee scored the two goals for the Flyers, securing their third win of the season. The Bruins head out on the road, stopping in Carolina first to take on the Hurricanes on Thursday.

After a scoreless opening 20 - Tyson Foerster opened the scoring, giving the Flyers a 1-0 lead early into the middle frame at 14:28. Emil Andrae had the puck in the Flyers' zone, holding it before he spotted Foerster, who took the puck and passed it with a touch pass to Morgan Frost before Frost sent it back over... Foerster went for it, shooting the puck after Frost passed it back to him, however, he just missed it. Erik Johnson got the puck after it bounced back from Foerster's original shot, passed it back to him, and Foerster went on to finish Andrae's centering pass from the slot.
Brad Marchand almost scored on a short-handed goal in the third, however, Samuel Ersson fell on the puck and kept it out of the net with his glove after Marchand sent the puck from behind the net off Ersson's skate and toward the goal line. Joonas Korpisalo denied Joel Farabee when he had a net-front deflection off Ryan Poehling's pass... Soon after Farabee's attempt, Sean Couturier had a breakaway after he blocked Mason Lohrei's shot at the point, but Korpisalo made another stop to keep it at 1-0. However, with just seconds left in regulation, Farabee intercepted Charlie McAvoy's pass at Boston's blue line and struck the Bruins' empty net for a 2-0 final.
Joonas Korpisalo on his unbelievable saves: "Pretty good. It's been a while since I played last time, so I just tried to go out there and enjoy the game - just put everything I got there. The guys played great in front of me."
Hampus Lindholm on the loss and being hesitant out there: "I think that's normal when you're struggling offensively - It's usually when you're on a hot streak, you just take the puck and you snap it right away. You don't really think. This game comes much easier when you're just playing your intuition out there. I think we can stick in going back to that, but also take ownership. We know no one's going to hand it to you for free in this league - you're going to have to work for it."
Matt Poitras on the loss, how the Bruins played, and things to work on: "We just got to find a way to piece two games in a row together. I feel like we had the puck a lot tonight and we were in the o-zone a lot... but we got to find a way to puncture their D-zone... so, just got to find a way to get scoring chances."
Notes:
- During the first period, the Bruins had a 5-on-3 power play when both Scott Laughton and Travis Sanheim were called for penalties 23 seconds apart, but the Bruins unfortunately failed to capitalize.
- For the first time since October 6th, 2011 - The Bruins failed to record a point against the Philadelphia Flyers. This game on Tuesday broke that 20-game home point streak against the Flyers.
- Samuel Ersson made a total of 23 saves for Philadelphia... Ersson is the third Flyers goaltender with a shutout in Boston. He joins both Antero Niittymaki (January 2nd: 2006) and Brian Boucher (March 4th: 2000). This is Ersson's sixth career shutout, his first this season.
